NIE and the 2008 election

Perfect timing for the primaries and election of 2008! Start planning now to ensure your teachers take advantage of this important event with great NIE educational materials.

The PNA Foundation is fully sponsoring, for all of our PNA members, a selection of NIE election materials from:

• Hot Topics Hot Serials
• the Los Angeles Times, Times In Education program and
• Lancaster Newspapers Inc.

A CD will be made available from PNA with the following materials and/or instructions for:

• an online course to instruct teachers on strategies for using the newspaper to teach about the presidential election
• your choice of any 2 of 6 curriculum aids for teaching about the election
• 19 election activity sheets
• 2 curriculum guides**
• online mock voting program for Pa. school districts

Please note that most products will not be available until spring, however, the curriculum guides (**) from the Los Angeles Times, will be available by the end of January or early February.

Many thanks to our wonderful Pennsylvania NIE Committee for helping to coordinate this terrific statewide initiative. We strongly encourage all NIE Coordinators and Managers to participate in committee meetings and initiatives such as this.
