Salisbury Press (Allentown), Sept. 5
Galbraith named editor of East Penn Press, Salisbury Press
With this issue Scott Masenheimer, publisher, welcomes Debbie Galbraith as the editor of both East Penn Press and Salisbury Press.
Debbie has written for the weekly papers for six years, five of them as a freelance writer/photographer.
Salisbury readers may recognize her as the Eastern Salisbury neighborhood columnist and as the reporter for Salisbury School Board meetings. She has also been a frequent photographer over the years at many Salisbury Township events.
As an editorial assistant, Debbie was an integral member of the Bethlehem Press in 2006 to become Public Relations Manager for Boscov’s department store at both the Lehigh Valley and Palmer Park malls and continued to write articles as a freelancer for the weekly papers.
Debbie has a strong background in computer technology and is very interested in newspaper design. "We look forward to seeing many of her creative ideas appearing on the pages of both papers," Masenheimer said.
"We are impressed with Debbie’s credentials, her organizational skills, her demonstration for responding to our readers and her passion for weekly newspapers. She brings to the position enthusiasm and dedication to do the hard work necessary to bring our brand of community journalism to our readers. We look forward to working with her and seeing both papers continue to grow and develop under her editorship," Masenheimer said.
Galbraith is a native of Delaware County, moving to Salisbury Township in 1994. She is married and has two sons who attend Salisbury schools.
Volunteering is very important to her. Debbie co-directs a weekly youth program at her church for over 65 children, is president of the Harry S Truman PTA and is a trained Cub Scout leader.
"I’m excited to be in a position to bring Salisbury news to Salisbury residents and East Penn news to East Penn residents. My goal is to be responsive to our readers and to publish as much community news as space allows. I’m eager for the opportunity to get out in the communities and meet greet our readers in the near future.
"I welcome comments from readers as well as news tips. I can be reached at 610-740-0944, ext 3705 or dgalbraith@tnonline.com," Galbraith said.
