Foundation Update

The deadline to register for the New Reporters Boot Camp is this Friday, July 27. This week-long workshop is just one example of how the Foundation is venturing into new territory so that we can get the word out about our excellent resources available to members and non-members.

The boot camp was actually developed by the Kentucky Press Association to train new or soon-to-be editorial staffers with little or no experience in the field. We view it as an opportunity to serve a whole new audience, while also supporting members by educating their stringers or first-time reporters to be ‘good journalists.’ Drawing on the talent and expertise of seasoned professionals working at many Pennsylvania papers, the boot camp promises to be a worthwhile workshop and is being offered at an affordable rate of $200. To register or for more information, please contact Beverly Hendry at beverlyh@pa-news.org or (717) 703-3003.

In the coming weeks, we will be hosting a series of brown-bag luncheons. Scheduled monthly, the sessions will be held via teleconference and feature a different topic each session. In response to member requests for more dialogue with peers and colleagues across the state, these hour-long conference calls will invite callers to ask questions and chat with one another about common challenges and new ideas. Please feel free to offer your suggestions for topics and themes by contacting laurenl@pa-news.org or (717) 703-3002.
