Philadelphia newspapers being revamped
Philadelphia Media Holdings, L.L.C. announced its plans to increase circulation for The Philadelphia Inquirer and the Daily News. Some of the changes are an increased delivery area for the Daily News and an "express" edition of The Inquirer.

Senate Majority Leader backs open records reforms
After a Swearing-In Day and an Inaugural address that gave pundits, reformers and political junkies a lot to ponder, the PNA is pleased that our campaign to overhaul Pennsylvania's Right-to-Know Law is starting to bear fruit, although we have serious concerns about elements of the two proposals that have been announced to date. Sen. Pileggi outlined his open records proposal on Jan. 22.

Philly: Phillips, Dignan named to senior advertising positions
Philadelphia Media Holdings L.L.C. named Sherry Phillips and Patrick Dignan to senior advertising positions. Phillips will be director of business development for advertising for The Inquirer, Philadelphia Daily News and philly.com. Dignan will be director of advertising sales for philly.com. Phillips had been vice president of conference sales at Forbes magazine, and Dignan had directed East Coast sales for Forbes.com.


Post-Gazette hires Enstad as retail advertising manager
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has named David Enstad Retail Advertising Manager. Enstad started in his new role on Jan. 15, 2007.

The scholastic and collegiate awards are presented at the America East Newspaper Operations and Technology Conference.

Application deadline for World Affairs Journalism Fellows approaching
The Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting is partnering with International Center For Journalists to sponsor an additional (13th) World Affairs Journalism Fellowship. The Pulitzer Center WAJF Fellow will pursue a project that addresses an under-reported international issue through a combination of print and other media outlets. The designated fellow will receive additional support from the Pulitzer Center staff and the resulting project will be highlighted on the Pulitzer Center's Web site.
