Clearfield Progress appoints Golden new editor

The Progress announces the appointment of Jill L. Golden as its new editor.

Ms. Golden has almost 20 years of experience in newsrooms, beginning her career as lifestyles editor of The Ridgway Record.

She later became a city reporter for The Daily Press newspaper in St. Marys, where she took over as editor in 1995.

In early 2004, she accepted a position with U.S. Investigations Services in Annandale, outside the realm of newspapers. Unhappy with the scope of work, she returned to the newsroom a year later as editor for The Kane Republican in McKean County.

"I love my hometown newspapers and feel they play an important role in the community. They are especially important to rural communities helping to educate and inform their residents," said Ms. Golden.

She is a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania and holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism. She has won awards for her writing.

Former editor Linda Wellar will assume the role of assistant editor.
