Newsroom Guide to Global Health: A Resource for Reporters
A special Newsroom Guide providing a comprehensive source for global health and child survival reporting is available free to interested journalists, courtesy of the PBS documentary project Rx for Survival -- A Global Health Challenge. The project takes a journalistic look at the history of public health and disease, examines the current state of the world's
health, ad explores the future of efforts to improve people's health worldwide.
This compact, spiral-bound 200-page guide includes five fully referenced sections: Global Health at a Glance, an overview of the concept and its news value; Preventable Diseases, Unnecessary Deaths, the current status of global health and milestones; Critical Themes in Global Health Today, a more detailed look at eight areas of global health; Health Equity is Possible, ways to improve global health and the obstacles and challenges facing such change; Additional Resources, which includes tools for reporting on global health, such as a glossary, references for further reading and useful web sites.
While this booklet focuses on global health issues, there are facts, figures, and even story ideas for health reporters across Pennsylvania.
