Former publisher buys Titusville Herald
The Titusville Herald has been sold to its former publisher, Michael Sample.
The newspaper was owned for six years by Community Newspaper Holdings Inc., of Birmingham, Ala. CNHI also is the parent company of The Meadville Tribune.
The sale was completed on Sept. 30.
Sample, a Titusville resident, was The Herald's publisher from 1994 to 2000. The son of George Sample, publisher of The Journal, in Corry, recently left the Corry paper, where he served as president and ad manager.
"I am very excited about returning to The Herald and to the Titusville community," he said.
"I greatly appreciate CNHI's willingness to part with The Herald," he said. "My wife, Debbie and our children, Sydney and John George, spent nine wonderful years as part of Titusville and have been looking for the opportunity to be part of the community again. Purchasing The Herald is the opportunity that will allow us to do so."
