Robert I. Kimmel
Robert I. Kimmel, 82, of Lower Paxton Township, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2005 at Hershey Medical Center.
He was born January 28, 1923 in Union-town, son of the late Filson and Dorothy Jean (Walker) Kimmel.
He was a 1940 graduate of Bloomsburg High School and a 1944 graduate of Bucknell University.
He was the retired Director of Communications for the Pennsylvania State Police; and was general manager for the Paxton Herald. He was the former director of the John Heinz Senior Center, Harrisburg, and had been involved in the development of the Edgemont Senior Center.
Bob was an Air Force Veteran of World War II, and belonged to the Linglestown American Legion Post 272. He was a life member of the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police; had been a dance instructor here and in Michigan, and was an accomplished musician.
He is survived by his 3 sons, Robert F. Kimmel of Atlantic City, Gregory P. Kimmel of Harrisburg and Kevin N. Kimmel of Los Angeles; 2 daughters, Donna J. Furjanic of Steelton and LuAnna P. Brook of Harrisburg; one brother, Jack N. Kimmell of Lansing, Mich.; 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2005 at Zimmerman Auer Funeral Home, 4100 Jonestown Road, Harrisburg, with visitation starting at 10 a.m. There will be a viewing from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
