Mock Election:
Next week the results will be in

From the Pennsylvania Society of Newspaper Editors

Time is ticking away.

The votes are being tallied. And high school seniors in Pennsylvania are ready to make their statement about the presidential race.

Don't miss out on your newspaper's chance to let your young voices speak. The Pennsylvania Society of Newspaper Editors and Pennsylvania Newspaper Association are ready to wrap up our statewide mock election.

Results will be announced and printed in publications Wednesday, Oct. 20.

Results from your mock elections should be sent to Editor Dino Ciliberti of The Republican & Herald in Pottsville by Monday, Oct. 18.

His staff will compile a story papers can use to chart these mock elections across the state. He'll need:

1. The vote tally by school, including how many students are in the senior class and how many actually voted.
2. The county where the school is located.
3. Some anecdotal material like a few good quotes, or whether there was a campaign for the kids' vote.
4. Papers are also encouraged to e-mail Dino a great photo to share with others.

We want to get as many Pennsylvania dailies and weeklies involved as possible. So please send your results.

A story on young Pennsylvanians and the election, written by the Republican & Herald, will be sent to participating papers on Oct. 18. It is embargoed until Oct. 20 to accommodate publication schedules.

Please send results/responses to Dino's e-mail address at dciliberti@republicanherald.com
Call Dino at 570 622-3456 or Cate Barron of The Patriot-News at 717 255-8165 with questions.
