Judicial College offers training program for journalists
The Donald W. Reynolds National Center for Courts and Media is planning its first course for journalists.
This is a fully funded course that is scheduled for August 9-10, and will take place at the Center, located at the National Judicial College in Reno, Nevada.
The program, which is designed to improve the skills of journalists covering trials and other court proceedings, will be limited to 30 participants selected from applicants working in the print and electronic media.
The workshop, Basic Legal Affairs Reporting for Journalists, will be especially valuable for general assignment reporters in smaller markets where local news organizations don't have assigned court reporters.
Members of the Conference of Court Public Information Officers are asked to encourage journalists who cover courts in their jurisdictions to apply.
Transportation, meals and tuition are being funded by a grant from the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation.
More information and application forms are available a www.judges.org/nccm.
Applications can be faxed to the Center at (775) 784-1269. Deadline is May 15, 2004.
