Journal Register names Edward Condra 'Publisher of the Year'
Journal Register recently announced that Edward Condra of the
(West Chester) Daily Local News was selected as the company's Publisher of the Year for 2003 at its recent publishers' conference.
In making the announcement Robert Jelenic, chairman and chief executive, said, "It is with great pleasure that I present this award to Ed Condra in recognition of his outstanding performance. Ed has been one of our top publishers and continues to provide tremendous leadership both at the Daily Local News and throughout our Greater Philadelphia cluster."
Condra has spent his entire newspaper career with Journal Register Company, beginning at The Trentonian in 1991, where he worked his way up to advertising director.
In September 1997, he was promoted to publisher of The (Troy, N.Y.) Record, and in January 1999 his role was expanded to include oversight of all operations in Journal Register's Capital-Saratoga cluster. In October 2000, Condra was promoted to publisher of the Daily Local News.
In February 2001, he took on the additional role of publisher of the Journal Register's Chesapeake, Pa., publications, and in May 2003 was named senior publisher of the Greater Philadelphia cluster, responsible for coordinating cluster-wide projects.
"I am honored to receive this award on behalf of the entire team at the Daily Local News," said Condra. "It is only through the efforts of all of our employees that we are able to produce such an outstanding newspaper. I am extremely proud of my team and accept this award as a testimonial to their talent and dedication."
