PNA Capitol Briefing on Oct. 21

The Pennsylvania Newspaper Association and the Pennsylvania Society of Newspaper Editors invite editors to attend a Capitol Editorial Briefing scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 21, at the State Capitol.

Editors who participated in previous briefings enjoyed the opportunity to meet with the Governor and caucus leaders to discuss legislative matters relevant to their readers including the latest on state budget talks, gambling proposals, and education reform packages.

PNA and PSNE limit the briefing to seven editors, to facilitate an informal but on the record exchange between editors and lawmakers.  We encourage every Pennsylvania newspaper to participate. This is a great chance for you, regardless of the size of your newspaper, to ask those questions important to your readers.

Reporters are welcome, but please consider sending one of your editors who have fewer opportunities to interact with legislative leaders.

The tentative agenda for the October 21 briefing is:

8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.  Administration

9:35 a.m. -10:35 a.m.   House Republicans

10:45a.m. – 11:45 a.m.   Senate Democrats

11:45 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.   Senate Republicans

House Democrats (TBA)

Please contact Kara Dolphin Beem by Oct. 8, 2003 if you are interested in attending the October briefing.  She can be reached at karab@pa-news.org or at (717) 703-3077.
